Alpine Woodcuts

The Alpine Series: A series of 5 woodblock prints depicting mountain landscapes around Nelson B.C. and the native wildflowers and beings among them. Each print represents an alpine experience from the summer of 2021 - hikes snuck in around the heat dome, wildfire smoke, and work responsibilities - joyous moments embracing the comforting insignificance that these dramatic and boundless landscapes evoke. Each print integrates humans into the fabric of the landscape, not absent nor primary subject, but as witness to the movement of plants, rock, wind, and water. 

The West Kootenay landscapes depicted in this woodblock series are within the unceded Sinixt, Ktunaxa, and Syilx territories.
