Border Free Bees

Border Free Bees was a transdisciplinary community engaged public art initiative headed by Dr. Cameron Cartiere and Professor Nancy Holmes in collaboration with numerous strategic partners. This SSHRC funded project has come to an end - find more information about Border Free Bees here.

As a Project Assistant for Border Free Bees, my work included: facilitating community engaged seed papermaking workshops in Richmond, BC; teaching the seed papermaking process to the team at UBC Okanagan in Kelowna, BC; assisting and mentoring under eco-artist Sharon Kallis in blackberry fibre use, cordage processing, and community engagement methods for a project, Blackberry/Butterfly Net, that was installed at the Richmond Pollinator Pasture in 2016; facilitating my own community-engaged eco-art project Bumble Baskets in Kelowna during the summer of 2017, with Sharon's continued mentorship; and lastly, facilitating a second rendition of Bumble Baskets at the Terra Nova Pollinator Meadow in the summer of 2018.
